Pebble appstore goes live for iOS with Android “coming very, very soon”

Pebble App Store

As we reported this weekend, Pebble today launched its Pebble appstore with over 1000 apps and watchfaces. Whereas until today, Pebble users, now more than 300,000 strong, had to visit third party resources, they will now have a “simple one-stop-shop for you to discover, manage, and install apps and watchfaces” available to them as well. There are separate areas for apps and watchfaces. Apps are curated and sorted into six categories: Daily, Tools & Utilities, Notifications, Remotes, Fitness, and Games.

We’re extremely proud to announce that the Pebble appstore is now live with over 1000 apps and watchfaces. The appstore is built into the Pebble app on your iOS or Android device, and lets you find, browse and download Pebble apps and watchfaces directly from your smartphone.

The appstore also features a locker that lets you store up to 8 apps and watchfaces, making it easy to load and unload them to or from your Pebble smartwatch.

Pebble first announced that it would launch an app store back in mid-December.

As expected, only the iOS version is available as of right now – Although it appears to still be replicating across Apple App Store servers as we write this. The Pebble team is still “fine tuning the Pebble app for Android” but it should launch “very, very soon.”
