Samsung today sent out press invitations for an event that will take place on June 12 in New York City. The tagline “Tab into color” suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Premiere 2014 event will be all about tablets and thin ones at that based on the invitation itself.
Samsung is likely to unveil its new Galaxy Tab S tablets. Two models, differing only in the size of the display are expected. Rumoured specifications promise some pretty powerful tablets:
- Processor: Octa-core (1.9GHz × 4 Cortex-A15 and 1.3GHz × 4 Cortex-A7) Samsung Exynos 5420
- Operating system: Google Android 4.4.2
- Cellular connectivity: Optional LTE configuration
- Other connectivity: GPS/GLONASS, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE / ANT+, DLNA
- Display: 8.4- or 10.5-inch WQXGA (2560×1600) AMOLED
- RAM: 3GB LPDDR3e
- Rear-facing camera: 8MP with 1080p video capture
- Front-facing camera: 2.1MP
- Colours: Shimmer White and Titanium Grey
- Other: Fingerprint sensor integrated into Home button, IR blaster
There is no word yet on pricing and availability but those details should be revealed on June 12.
For those unable to make it to New York to attend the event in person, Samsung will livestream the event through its YouTube channel.
