Samsung to launch Galaxy Note 4 on September 3?

Samsung Galaxy Note logoWith the Samsung Galaxy S5 now widely available across the world, rumours are focused on Samsung’s next flagship devices. Many have focused on the Galaxy S5 Prime which Samsung could unveil early this summer to take on the LG G3 and its WQHD display. Further out is Samsung’s next phablet, the Galaxy Note 4.

If Samsung follows tradition, it will be unveiled at the IFA tradeshow that takes place every year in Berlin in early September. It should come as no big surprise then that the same insider that revealed last year’s Galaxy Note 3 release date has now told AndroidGeeks that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note 4 on September 3 at an Unpacked event.

The report adds that the Galaxy Note 4 will come with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and the same 16MP camera as the Galaxy S5 but upgraded with optical image stabilization. All in all, these are more conservative than an earlier report suggested. It’s also likely that the Galaxy S5’s fingerprint sensor, heart rate monitor and dust and waterproof features will make their way over. The report also casts doubt on the rumoured Youm three-sided display, suggesting instead that it will be a more traditional 5.7-  (supported by other rumours) or 5.9-inch display with resolution bumped up to WQHD (2560×1440). Unless Google announces a new version of Android, the Galaxy Note 4 also looks set to run on Android 4.4 KitKat with Samsung’s TouchWiz interface.

Invitations for Samsung’s September Unpacked will reportedly be sent out in mid-August.
