Samsung schedules Unpacked 2014 Episode 1 for February 24

Samsung Unpacked 5Samsung will hold at least two separate events at MWC 2014. Following invitations for a Tizen event set for February 23, the Korean company yesterday announced that it will hold its first Unpacked event of 2014 on February 24, the first official day of MWC 2014. The invitation for the event, which is called ‘Unpacked5,’ reveals little but it could well be for the oft-rumoured Samsung Galaxy S5.

There have been a large number of rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S5 in the past few weeks. Rumours have hinted at devices sporting both 5.25-inch Full HD (1080×1920) displays, such as the SM-G900P for Sprint Wireless, and WQHD (2560×1440) ones, leading to speculation that Samsung may unveil both a standard and premium versions of its next Galaxy S flagship smartphone.

The Galaxy S5 is also expected to come with Android 4.4 KitKat with an updated version of TouchWiz, a 16MP camera, 3GB of RAM and both plastic and metal bodies. It could also sport a 64-bit processor with rumours hinting at both a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 and an Exynos 6.

Samsung may also use the event to announce its latest Windows Phone smartphone, the SM-W750V for Verizon.

For those not in Barcelona for MWC 2014, Samsung will once again livestream its Unpacked event.

Unpacked5 is also billed as Samsung Unpacked 2014 Episode 1.

All will hopefully be revealed in about 20 days.
