While Apple was busy unveiling the latest versions of iOS and OS X, Sony today posted a teaser for what appears to be the successor to its 6.4-inch Xperia Z Ultra phablet. The single image posted on its blog gives us a side view of a new device and asks:
Shh… do you want to know a secret? Stay tuned for the next big thing this season
The Sony Xperia Z Ultra was among the largest smartphones when it launched last year but cellular connectivity has since then moved up into larger devices. It remains to be seen if Sony will follow suit or if this new device will keep the Xperia Z Ultra’s 6.4-inch display size.
Sony did not provide any details as to when an announcement could be made but perhaps details will follow later this week. The Xperia Z Ultra was announced back in June 2013 so an announcement of a successor later this month is not out of the question.
We’ll also have to see if Samsung’s legal department decides to give Sony a call about that “next big thing” blurb!
