ASUS VivoWatch to be unveiled at Milan Design Week 2015

ASUS VivoWatchASUS will announce the ASUS VivoWatch at the upcoming Milan Design Week event. Taking place at Milan’s Milano Via Tortona 20 from April 14th to April 19th, this new wearable will be the company’s first to focus on fitness and wellness. While most details will not be announced until the event kicks tomorrow , ASUS has teased a few of them ahead of time.

The ASUS VivoWatch will sport a stainless steel case and will be IP67 rated. It will also offer up to 10 days of battery life, a feature that could make it stand out from the competition. With its focus on health, it’s no surprise that it wil also include a heart rate monitor and monitor your sleeping habits.

Judging from the image, one way ASUS may have achieved long battery life is to use a monochrome display with an LED notification bar.

The ASUS VivoWatch will work with the accompanying ASUS HiVivo smartphone app and ASUS Healthcare website. These will help wearers meet personal fitness goals as well as view fitness updates from family and friends.

One thing not revealed today is what operating system will power the ASUS VivoWatch. Could it be some flavour of Windows as earlier rumours suggested? Even if it’s not, it is unlikely to be Android Wear if recent comments by ASUS CEO Jerry Shen are any indication.

We should know far more, hopefully including availability and pricing, about the ASUS VivoWatch as early as tomorrow.
