CES 2015: hereO Child GPS Watch

hereO Child GPS WatchSmartwatches have a substantial presence at CES 2015. In fact, this relatively new product category this year occupies four times as much floorspace as last year, according to CES organizers. Not all of it is focused on adults though. Also on display this week is the hereO Child GPS Watch.

The hereO Child GPS Watch is designed for children as young as three. Parents can install the hereO app on their smartphone (Android and iOS are both supported with a desktop version also available) to track their children’s whereabouts. As the name implies, the watch sports an integrated GPS receiver that sends location information back to the app via integrated GSM connectivity.

Children can also shake it horizontally five times to send out an alert. The gesture should be hard enough not to trigger by accident but also easy to remember.

Virtual fences can also be created with the hereO app. Notifications can then let you know when your child arrives or leaves that place.

The hereO Family app can also be used by family members to share their locations and broadcast messages to all family members.

The hereO Child GPS Watch started off as a successful Indiegogo project. The company now expects that shipments will begin in April 2015. It will sell for US$179 with a three month subscription included. A monthly US$4.95 charge will be applied after that.
