Neptune, the Canadian company behind the Neptune Pine, recently unveiled its next device, the Neptune Duo. Consisting of the Neptune Hub and an optional Pocket screen, it promised to make the smartwatch the center of your connected experience with the larger smartphone-like display merely a dumb extension when a larger display was needed. The company has now unveiled the Neptune Suite. Building on the promise of the Neptune Duo, it adds a number of additional accessories to offer a full computing solution.
The Neptune Suite consists of the Neptune Hub, the Pocket Screen, a larger 10-inch Tab Screen, the wireless Neptune Keys keyboard which works with the Tab Screen, the Neptune Dongle that turns any existing computer monitor or TV into another screen for your Hub and the wireless Neptune Headset headphones.
With Neptune Suite, you no longer need to sync between all your devices, as you’re always using the same computing hub, just on different screen sizes. You may also start an application on one device, and seamlessly transition to another. No need to go through the hassle of relaunching any apps or worrying about your progress.
As personal files and apps are always on your wrist, a lost or stolen device no longer means lost or stolen data. Devices are much cheaper as well, as they don’t have all the expensive computing and connectivity components anymore.
The various Neptune components communicate via WiGig, a new wireless protocol operating in the 60GHz frequency band. It promises speeds of up to 7Gbps with non-perceptible latency.
The Neptune Duo pre-orders have now been rolled up into this new Indiegogo campaign. The Neptune Suite is expected to ship in February 2016. The following pledge tiers are available:
