Baselworld 2016: Movado Group to offer smartwatches across brand portfolio

Movado BOLD MotionMovado jumped into the smartwatch market late last year with the Movado BOLD Motion (pictured above) developed in partnership with HP Inc., the consumer half of the recently split Hewlett-Packard. Its parent company, Movado Group, today announced at Baselworld 2016 that it is expanding this partnership to allow more of its brands to offer smartwatches. As a result, brands like Coach, HUGO BOSS, Lacoste, Juicy Couture,Tommy Hilfiger and Scuderia Ferrari could all soon offer their own smartwatches.

“Movado Group focuses on creating beautifully designed watches and these new smartwatch collections reflect, first and foremost our design-focused vision,” stated Ricardo Quintero, President Movado Group. “Our collaboration with HP enables us to increase market share in the wearable technology sector with the introduction of striking timepieces enhanced with leading-edge technology. HP understands our vision of what consumers need and want.”

The new smartwatches will support traditional features like notifications for incoming calls, messages, social media updates and appointments, activity tracking and a world clock with multiple time zones. They will be compatible with both Android and iOS devices.

The new Movado Group smarwatch collections will include over 25 new models for both men and women. They will launch in Canada and the U.S. as well as Europe with pricing starting at US$195 (about CA$260).
