Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2016 Limited Edition

Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2016 Limited EditionThe 10th installment of the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique took over the streets of Monaco last weekend. The biennial race sees vintage cars battle it out over the same streets that modern F1 cars will take too later this month. Befitting such an occasion, Chopard, the race’s official timekeeper, unveiled its latest limited edition timepieces, the Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2016 Limited Edition chronographs.

The two models unveiled are quite similar. The first features a steel and titanium construction while the second will be available in 18k rose gold. Aside from the choice of materials, the two are only different in the dial accent colours. The steel/titanium model is accented in orange while the gold one features blue accents. Both feature the same grey snailed dial with small seconds, chronograph seconds hand and 30-minute and 12-hour counters.

The vintage racing world shows its influences in a couple of ways. The pushers are shaped like engine pistons and the screws used on the caseback resemble bolts. The bezel features a tachymetric scale as well.

The same dial colour accents show up in the interchangeable straps included with each watch as well. A perforated Barenia calfskin strap is finished with orange or blue stitching while a grey NATO strap bears either orange or blue racing stripes.
