Global availability of Samsung Charm expanding to new markets

Samsung CharmSamsung unveiled its Charm fitness tracking band at at Mobile World Congress. Initially launched in  launched in South Korea, Italy, France and Russia, Samsung today announced that it will soon be available in a number of additional “select markets.”

The Samsung Charm or the Charm by Samsung as the company now calls it is a basic fitness tracker. It can track steps taken in a day, distance covered and how many calories you’ve burned and sync the data back to the Samsung S Health app on your smartphone via Bluetooth. It will also notify you of incoming calls, texts and social media updates using LED lights. Samsung also boasts that it has “a sleek design and looks more like a piece of jewelry than an electronic device.”

Without a display, the Samsung Charm ‘s rechargeable 17 mAh battery can last up to 14 days.

 

While two models were originally unveiled, Samsung today only mentions the square model. It will be available in Gold, Black and Rose Quartz.

Unfortunately, Samsung has omitted to mention exactly which new markets will get the Samsung Charm. it’s also unclear exactly when it will launch in these unspecified countries. Look for pricing to fall in the US$50 (about CA$65) range.
