Official Pokémon Card Game for iPad available via iTunes App Store in Canada

Pokémon TCG Online

Many parents may soon discover that it is even harder to wrest their Apple iPads out of the hands of their children. That’s because the Pokémon Company has made good on a promise to bring a version of its famed card game to the iPad. While an online version of the Pokémon TCG (Trading Card Game) has been available for PCs for a while, this marks the first time that an official Pokémon game has landed on a mobile device that is not a Nintendo device of some kind.

Have fun learning and mastering the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online! Practice against the computer or go head to head with your friends or other players from around the world. Unlock cards and decks as you play to build up your collection and make truly unique decks. Your decks and card collection are stored as a part of your Pokémon Trainer Club account, allowing you to switch between iPad and desktop with ease.

Pokémon TCG Online is now available as a free download through the iTunes App Store in Canada. With support for a wide range of languages beyond French and English, expect it to soon appear on the App Store in other countries as well.

Players who have so far played on their desktops will find all their decks and card collections on their iPad as well when they log in with the same account.

There is no word on whether the Pokémon TCG Online will make its way to Android as well.

It remains to be seen if other Pokémon games will make their way to iOS as well but don’t hold your breath. Nintendo holds the rights to Pokémon video games and it is unlikely to agree to let one of its most valuable properties go anywhere else.
