IBM: Expect viruses and worms targeting mobile devices to surge in 2005

A recent issue of the IBM Global Business Security Index Report looked at potential security threats in 2005. Would you be surprised that early indicators point to a drastic surge in the spread of viruses and worms to handheld devices?

Mobile devices such as PDAs and cell phones are the new frontier for viruses, spam and other potential security threats. Bluetooth and other wireless technologies that connect mobile devices pose new exposures for hackers to target.

Other security threats that show no sign of abating including identity theft, phishing and malware. And expect VoIP networks to also come under attack.
