Research firm The Radicati Group is predicting that push email devices could reach 40 million by 2008. Today, it is estimated by there are about 4.2 million mobile devices capable of push email. RIM owns about 71 percent of that market today. “Wireless push email will be one of the fastest growing sectors of the telecommunications market in the coming years,” said Teney Takahashi, senior analyst at messaging industry research firm The Radicati Group.
These numbers mean that the industry will see annual growth numbers of over 100 percent in each of the next three years!
