Cornice bumps up capacity on 1-inch drives

Cornice has unveiled a 12GB 1-inch drive to its Dragon product line. Previously, the drives topped out at 10GB. With ever increasing storage demands in mobile phones, DAPs, gaming devices and personal storage devices, every capacity bump is welcome. Cornice has also focused on reducing power consumption so that the Dragon drives now account for only 5 percent of the total battery consumption in a typical MP3 audio device.

The Dragon drives also come with CrashGuard, a system that helps them withstand shaking, drops and other abuse without skipping, stopping or crashing.

The new 12GB Dragon drive will be available in Q3 2006 and will sell for $85 USD (with volume discounts).
