High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC) announced today that it will acquire Dopod (Cayman) Holding Corporation (Dopod), one of its customers, and turn it into a subsidiary. Up to now, HTC has focused its activities around design and manufacture of Windows Mobile devices and has let other companies take care of marketing and sales of its devices under different brands. With so many aware that HTC is behind many of the most successful designs out there, it is not a surprise that HTC may want to further develop its brand.
The transaction is not expected to cost more than $150 million USD. Specifics such as timelines will be worked out in the near future.
