HTC Universal successor coming


Having released four new devices, HTC is not taking a break. is reporting that HTC has begun work on the successor to the HTC Universal (also known as the SPV M5000 or Qtek 9000). Codenamed Omni, the new device will use a similar design, albeit thinner and with additional hardware buttons, and continue to offer VGA capabilities. Unlike the Universal, it will be powered by a Samsung processor and will come with Windows Mobile 5 with AKU 3.0 and HSPDA support.

The Omni is in early stages of design but is expected to begin shipping in late 2006 or early 2007.
