Is gadget addiction a medical condition?

Do you find that you must always have the latest and greatest gadgets? You’ve just bought the latest Pocket PC device and already you are craving the device just around the corner? You could be suffering from neophilia. A new study from the Yamagata University School of Medicine in Japan has found that if your body produces high quantities of a mitochondrial enzyme called monoamine oxidase A, you are more likely to be addicted to the latest and greatest.

So now, when you come home with a gadget and your significant other does not seem to pleased, you can blame the fact that you are a neophiliac. Isn’t medicine a beautiful thing?
