According to Unstrung, some analysts are predicting that the next version of Microsoft’s mobile operating system, codenamed Crossbow, will be released in early to mid-2007. Combine that with earlier suggestions that Crossbow will be an update to Windows Mobile 5.0 (imagine WM 5.0 Second Edition) and it will be no suprise if the update consists of email, security and communication ugprades.
Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney suggests that Crossbow will try to address some of the weaknesses he sees for enterprise users in Windows Mobile 5.0. to address weaknesses relative to the BlackBerry.
