No Vista for consumers till 2007

Windows has announced that Vista will not start to ship on new consumer PCs until January 2007. Vista’s development will be complete this year but the delay has been imposed to ensure that all manufacturers have the chance to offer computers loaded with Vista at about the same time.

Most of the additional time needed to tweak Vista will be spent on improving security and usability features.

The biggest impact of this delay will probably be felt during the holiday shopping season. With customers knowing that Vista is just around the corner, will they opt to wait until then?
