It did not take long for Palm to respond to NTP’s patent infringement lawsuit filed yesterday. Palm acknowledges that it has been in contact with NTP but points out that the last discussions are several months old and that the patents in question are still before the US Patent and Trademark Office. Palm goes on to state that it will defend itself vigorously against the attempted misuse of the patent and judicial systems to extract monetary value for rights to patents that may ultimately have no value at all. It sounds like Palm expects that Palm expects the Patent and Trademark Office to rule that the patents are invalid.
