OQO 01+ now available

Oqo Model 01+

The OQO 01+ made its debut in September of 2005. And now just before Christmas, it is finally hitting retail shelves. But before you get into the car to drive down to the local Best Buy, it will only be available at RCS Experience in New York City. The move is intentional, according to OQO senior VP Bob Rosin who said “As this is a new kind of mobile computing that most users have not experienced, customers want to touch, feel, experience, and understand the productivity, portability, and functionality that the model 01+ offers.” Apparently, RCS is famous for creating environments that demonstrate how “devices” will interact with each other.

The OQO 01+ is a UMPC-like device measuring 4.9 x 3.4 x .9 inches and weighing 14 ounces. Powered by a Transmeta Crusoe 1GHz processor and a choice of Microsoft operating systems, it features a 800×480 5-inch display, 512MB RAM and 8MB video RAM, a 30GB hard drive, a QWERTY thumb keyboard with mouse buttons and TrackStik, 802.11 b Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FireWire.

THe OQO 01+ is available on the RCS web site starting at $1299.99 USD.
