SanDisk introduces 2 GB microSD card

SanDisk 2 GB microSD card

The cards keep getting smaller while capacities continue to grow to satisfy the unrelenting demand for storage. SanDisk announced a 2GB microSD card, the first to reach this capacity. With MP3-playing capabilities expected in more than 25-percent of handsets to be sold in 2006, SanDisk is clearly aiming this card at this growing market. The card can store up to 1,000 digital songs. The card will also be sold with an adapter to allow it to fit into a standard SD slot.

For the next 60 days, the card will be available exclusively from Verizon Wireless stores in the US for $99.99 USD. Internationally, the card will be carried by a variety of mobile retailers.
