512GB SSDs on their way by end of year

128GB SSDs are so yesterday. STEC has announced that its line of Zeus-IOPS solid state drives (SSD) now comes with new models with capacities of either 256GB or 512GB. STEC also claims that these drives are more than 200 faster than 15,000 RPM hard drives, offering 200MB/s read and 100MB/s write speeds. These drives come in a 3.5-inch form factor with a Fibre Channel interface.

While there was no mention of pricing, the 256GB SSD is available now and the 512GB version will be available in Q3 2007.
