Happy birthday to the Pocket PC

Happy birthday!

Back on April 19, 2000, Microsoft held a press conference in New York to unveil the Pocket PC operating system (now known as Windows Mobile). It replaced Windows CE and introduced colour displays to mobile devices running the new OS. At the announcement, Microsoft also showed off new devices from partners including Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Casio and others.

“It’s an amazing time in mobile computing, and we’re just getting started,” said Microsoft President and CEO Steve Ballmer on that day. He was not kidding!
