Apple releases iPhone 1.1.1 update

Apple has released its latest update for the iPhone. It addresses a number of security bugs and adds a number of enhancements, including the following:

  • iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store
  • Louder speakerphone and receiver volume
  • Home Button double click to phone favorites or music controls
  • Mail attachments are viewable in portrait and landscape
  • Space bar double-tap shortcut to intelligently insert period and space
  • Support for TV Out
  • Preference to turn off EDGE/GPRS when roaming internationally

If you hacked your iPhone, Apple warns that this update could result in “your iPhone becoming permanently inoperable”. A number of reports on the web suggest that this is more than an idle threat.

To update your iPhone, you will need to sync it with iTunes.
