Apple submits patent for secure wireless downloads and upgrades

Apple

A new Apple patent application called Configuration of a computing device in a secure manner suggests that Apple is considering adding the ability to wirelessly and securely connect to a various services to mobile devices. In one example, Apple shows using an application to connect to both content and commerce servers (iTunes store?). Other examples suggest that the patent also covers upgrades.

Could this mean that the upcoming Apple iPhone will let users purhcase content from the iTunes store and download firmware updates over the air? Even if the answer is no for now, I suspect that it is only a matter of time before we see wireless iPods and new iPhones that will support such functionality.
