Daylight Saving Time starts today in Canada and US

If you live in Canada or the United States, today is the day that our clocks jump forward one hour as Daylight Saving Time kicks in. This year, the change is happening much sooner than it has in the past. In 2005, the US decided to change the dates as part of their Energy Policy Act. Canada soon followed suit.

If you have not already done so, make sure that your mobile devices are patched so that the time shift is automatically done. Microsoft issued a patch back in mid-February. HP also issued one for its iPAQ devices. Other manufacturers (like RIM) have also issued patches so check the web site of your device’s manufacturer.

If you don’t run this update, information that relies on timestamps (such as appointments and emails) will show incorrect times while DST is in effect.
