Engadget had the chance to interview Peter Chou, the CEO of HTC. Much of the interview is spent discussing HTC’s plans for Android. The interview also considers how Android might or might not change the relationship between HTC and Microsoft, and the challenges of developing multi-band devices.
I found it interesting that HTC has already been working with Google for over two years on Android (which confirms some of those rumours we heard as early as 2006). And it appears that they really see it at a more consumer-centric platform than Windows Mobile (at least for now). It also looks like there are no plans to run Android on current hardware platform. Instead, we should see some completely new products.
You won’t find any news about upcoming products but the interview does give us a general idea of where HTC might be headed in 2008.
