HTC Touch unveiled

HTC Touch

As expected, HTC announced the HTC Touch today at an event in London. And as expected, the Touch introduces an innovative new concept in intuitive touch screen navigation called TouchFlo. Consumers simply sweep their finger up the display to launch an animated, three-dimensional interface comprising three screens: Contacts, Media and Applications. The interface can be spun by swiping a finger right or left across the display, providing efficient access to the features consumers use most. TouchFLO also enhances finger touch scrolling and browsing of Web pages, documents, messages and contact lists.

In terms of specs, the Touch is pretty much what was expected. Powered by a 201MHz TI OMAP procesor and Windows Mobile 6 Professional, it comes with tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support, 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM, a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, a 2MP camera, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, a microSD slot (and a 1GB microSD card is included). It will be available in either elegant soft black or alluring wasabi green. Weighing in at only 112 grams, it measures 99.9 x 58 x 13.9 millimeters.

The HTC Touch is immediately available in the United Kingdom with Asia and the rest of Europe to follow later this month. North and Latin America will get the HTC Touch in the second half of the year.
