More details about the upcoming O2 Cocoon

O2 Cocoon

The O2 Cocoon is expected to make its debut in the UK in August. In preparation, O2 has launched a sitelet dedicated to it and that reveals a few more details about it. O2’s Innovation Lab worked with design agencies to create… the O2 Cocoon. One of the most advanced music phones on the market. With the sleekest design, hiding all its technology under a pure, white shell. It comes alive with LED lights showing who’s calling or what’s playing. And it goes to sleep in its own Nest.

The Cocoon’s multimedia functions take center stage on the web site. It will have dedicated music keys on the side, an adapter that will let you plug in a second set of headphones, and external speakers. Preloaded media content includes tracks, videos and ring tones from Ash, The Doors and Paolo Nutini. The outer shell is an LED display that can show you who is calling or texting, music information and has icons that light up when you miss a call, get a message or when the battery runs low. It also comes with a dock called the Nest that lets it work as an alarm clock (with snooze button) as it recharges the battery.

The Cocoon is also expected to come with HSDPA and quad-band GSM/GPRS support, 2GB of memory, a 2.1-inch QVGA display, 2MP auto-focus camera, Bluetooth, an RDS-compatible FM radio tuner, and a microSD slot.

The O2 Cocoon is expected to be available for as low as £129 (with service contract).
