In a recent interview, Mozilla Foundation CEO Mitchell Baker revealed that Mozilla is in the very early stages of a project to port the Firefox web browser to mobile devices. The Mozilla Foundation’s mission in life is to improve Internet experience and that is increasingly on devices other than PCs. If we’re not there then we won’t be able to live the kind of vision that we helped grow, said Baker in the interview.
One objective of the project is to ensure that the mobile version of Firefox can work with extensions the same way the current version can.
While this mobile Firefox is still a long way out, Mozilla is already working on a project called Joey where they are looking at how people work with Firefox and their mobile devices.
I personally love Firefox and would love to see what they could bring to the mobile space.
