Rogers launches first HSDPA handset

Rogers is now offering its first HSDPA handset to customers. Rogers’ HSDPA network is limited to the Toronto area (November 2006 coverage map). To push adoption of its Vision plans, Rogers is offering freebies like free video calling, free unlimited video on demand and mobile internet for 3 months.

The Samsung A706 comes with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support and dual-band HSDPA connectivity. It also comes with 48MB shared memory, a 2MP camera, Bluetooth, a memory slot, and both a 240×320 internal display and 96×96 external display.

The Samsung A706 is available for $449.99 CAD with no contract or as low as $99.99 CAD with a 3 year contract.
