Samsung SGH-i617 gets FCC approval

The FCC has approved the Samsung SGH-i617 (the future BlackJack II?). A confidentiality agreement means that details and available documentation is limited unfortunately.

A few details have been revealed though. The outline of the device (to show where the FCC information will be located) shows a device very similar to the BlackJack. And the testing documentation reveals that it will feature dual-band HSDPA connectivity.

Meanwhile, the Bluetooth SIG has revealed that the SGH-i617 will be available in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, South America, suggesting that it will come with some additional GSM and UMTS bands.

Hopefully a formal announcement is getting near.
