The rumour that Dell is about to make a return to handhelds and/or smartphones has once again returned. This time, DigiTimes is reporting that market sources in Taiwan are saying that Dell with partner with Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) to develop Windows Mobile-based handheld devices.
Acer’s acquistion of E-TEN appears to have pushed Dell into action and Foxconn has apparently started to recruit staff in preparation to handle Dell’s orders.
The same sources indicate that Dell would offer a series of devices including handhelds (including some with GPS) and smartphones.
