Google Earth now available for iPhone and iPod touch

Google has released an Apple iPhone and iPod touch version of its Google Earth application. The new application makes full use of the touch-based controls:

Not only is having Google Earth on your iPhone convenient, but the touch interface is a very natural way to interact with the Earth. Just swipe your finger across the screen and you fly to the other side of the globe; tilt your phone and your view tilts as well. You can pinch to zoom in or out, or just double tap with one finger to zoom in and two fingers to zoom out.

As with other Google Earth versions, it includes a local search to find places, businesses, and landmarks and a “search near me” feature to find exactly what is around you at any time.

Google Earth for the iPhone and iPod touch is available for free from the Apple App Store.
