Skype has announced the release of Skype 2.5 for Windows Mobile.

Our engineers have been hard at work on Skype for Windows Mobile over the last few months. Just over two months after the release of 2.5 Beta, we’re ready to share the Gold version with you. We’ve fixed a bunch of bugs, and smoothed and refined the user experience on new devices.

Among the new features are improvements in the sound quality when calling from a WiFi zone, the ability to automatically answer calls, new status icons, the ability to end calls from the dial pad, and plenty of improvements and bug fixes.

Separate versions are available for Pocket PC (Classic and Professional) and Smartphone (Standard) versions of Windows Mobile.

Skype is already hard at work on future versions with Skype 3.0 being previewed at Mobile World Congress. It will include new SMS and file transfer capabilities. Skype 3.0 Beta will be released in March. Around the same time, Skype will release a Skype Panel for the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1.
