Foxconn to build Amazon 10.1-inch tablet?

AmazonDigitimes last week reported that Foxconn will manufacture Amazon’s upcoming 10.1-inch tablet. Shipments are apparently set to start in 2012 but Amazon appears to be pushing to have it out in late 2011 in time for the holiday season.

Past rumours have indicated that Amazon is planning at least two tablets. A smaller 7-inch model made by Quanta has already begun to ship to Amazon, suggesting an announcement could come very shortly. It’s likely that this is the “Coyote” with dual-core NVIDIA processor. There are also rumours about a 9-inch model (perhaps confused with the 10.1-inch model?) launching in October.

Foxconn also appears set to manufacture up to 12 million Kindles for Amazon.
