CES 2012: Huawei Ascend P1 S introduced as world’s thinnest smartphone

Huawei Ascend P1 SLet a new round of bragging begin! Huawei today unveiled the Ascend P1 S which it describes as the world’s thinnest smartphone. With a thickness of only 6.68 millimeters, it does appear to have bragging rights for now (at least for now as CES is only just getting started).

Huawei Ascend P1 S specifications:

  • Operating system: Google Android 4.0
  • Cellular connectivity: Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and penta-band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA
  • Other connectivity: 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 HS, DLNA
  • Display: 4.3″ Super AMOLED qHD (960×540) with Gorilla Glass
  • Input: Capacitive touchscreen
  • Memory: 1GB RAM
  • Storage: 4GB onboard
  • Rear-facing camera: 8MP with dual flash LED and 1080p HD video capture
  • Front-facing camera: 1.3MP with 720p HD video capture
  • Battery: 1,670 mAh
  • Dimensions: 6.68 millimeters thick

The Huawei Ascend P1 S will have a slightly larger sibling, the Ascend P1 which will be nearly identical but slightly thicker at 7.69 millimeters due to a larger 1,800mAh battery.

The Huawei Ascend P1 and the Huawei Ascend P1 S will be available starting in Q2 2012 (including North America). Pricing was not disclosed for either model.
