More information on upcoming quad-core Tegra 3 Google Nexus tablet

Google AndroidOn the heels of yesterday’s rumour that Google’s 7-inch Nexus tablet will begin shipping in June for July availability come new details about the tablet itself. A ” trusted source” has told TechnoBuffalo that Google will indeed announce Asus-built Nexus tablet at its Google I/O event in June. Attendees will also be happy to learn that they can expect to receive one at the event.

The report adds that it expects the tablet to come with a quad-core Tegra 3 processor. There are also conflicting reports on whether it will come with Android 4.0 or Android 5.0 (Jelly Bean). It will be interesting to see if Google launches another major version of Android with Android 4.0 adoption currently hovering around the 5% mark.

Best of all, Google and ASUS have apparently managed to get the price down to the US$200 mark without having to use a dual-core processor. This is likely due in part to NVIDIA’s Kai platform strategy which aims to allow manufacturers to produce US$200 quad-core Tegra 3 tablets.

Google I/O could be quite the event with the launch of the Nexus tablet, the possible announcement and launch of Android 5.0, and possible announcements of additional Nexus devices (possibly to launch on November 5th).
