Rumour: Windows 8 devices to begin shipping in October

Microsoft is set to finish the development of Windows 8 sometime this summer. PCs and tablets running Microsoft’s latest operating system will follow in the October time frame according to a Bloomberg report. This would allow Microsoft and its partners to catch the critical holiday season.

According to “people with knowledge of the schedule,” both Intel and ARM-based devices are expected to be available at launch time. The majority will be Intel-based with fewer than five ARM devices to launch at the same time. Three of these ARM-based devices will be tablets.

Microsoft will reportedly hold an event in April where it will outline its Windows 8 release strategy to its industry partners.
