HTC to go straight to Android 4.3 for HTC One in Canada and U.S.

After some rumours over the weekend that HTC might skip Android 4.2.2 entirely and simply upgrade the HTC One to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, HTC Americas President, Jason Mackenzie, today confirmed via Twitter that the manufacturer will release Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates for the Canadian and U.S. models of the HTC One by the end of September. Having described Android 4.2 as a “minor update” in an earlier tweet, no such upgrade is planned for the HTC One.

Also set to be updated will be the Verizon DROID DNA.

Mackenzie’s tweet suggests that HTC has in fact completed the update and is now working through the carrier certification stage of the deployment process.

A rumour in mid-July suggested that Samsung would take a similar approach with the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II devices. It added that the update would be relesed in the November or December timeframe.
