HTC unveils Fetch and HTC Mini+ accessories

HTC Fetch

HTC today showed off two new accessories for its recently announced HTC One mini (and other HTC smartphones) at an event in the UK. The HTC Fetch is a small accessory designed to help people keep track of their smartphone. The HTC Mini+ (not to be confused with the HTC One mini) is like a souped up Bluetooth headset/smartwatch in the shape of a tiny phone.

The HTC Fetch (pictured above) is a tiny (29.35 by 29.35 by 9.3 millimeters) black box that will activate the phone’s ringtone when you press the accessory’s button. It will also beep if you leave your phone behind. It has a working range of up to 15 meters (depending on operating environment). It also offers six months of battery life using a replaceable CR2032 battery. It is only compatible with the HTC One mini and the HTC Butterfly S.

The HTC One mini+ (pictured at the right) offers a number of smartphone functions in a separate device. It can take calls, provide notifications, work as a remote camera shutter and a TV remote and operate multimedia streaming through the HTC Media Link HD. Measuring 118.7 by 39.8 by 7.15 millimeters, it comes with a 1.5-inch 4-level grey scale OLED display (128 by 128 pixels) and pairs to a smartphone via NFC. It is currently compatible with the HTC One mini, HTC Butterfly s, HTC Desire 200 and HTC Desire 500.

Both accessories should be available later this year. Pricing was not announced but UK-based online retailer Clove already has the HTC Fetch available for pre-order for £24.99 (about CA$40). There is no word yet on Canadian availability.
