Kazam unveils smartphone lineup with seven devices

KAZAM smartphone lineupAt a time when many smartphone manufacturers (such as BlackBerry and HTC) are struggling to remain afloat, a new company has launched in Europe, thinking that its own approach will allow it to succeed where others are struggling. We first heard about Kazam this summer when former HTC executives announced their plans to launch a new company. Those plans have now become a lineup of seven devices in two separate families of devices.

“Today’s announcement proves that KAZAM is not about gimmicks or corporate bullshit, but delivering real value, by taking a fresh approach to mobile. It is not enough to simply stand for one thing, KAZAM must continue to invest in areas often over looked, posing difficult questions and challenging convention.” commented James Atkins, CMO, KAZAM.

Kazam’s devices will not impress anyone looking for a flagship smartphone but that’s not their objective. Their focus will be on “obsessive about quality, relevant technology, and disruptive pricing.”

As you can see from the specifications below, their top device, the Kazam Thunder Q4.5 falls into the mid-range of current devices (as will the forthcoming Kazam Thunder Q5.0).

  • Processor: 1.3GHz quad-core
  • Operating system: Google Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • Cellular connectivity: Quad-band 3G
  • Other connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
  • Display: 4.5-inch FWVGA (480×854) IPS
  • RAM: 1GB
  • Internal storage: 4GB
  • External storage: MicroSD cards up to 32GB
  • Rear-facing camera: 8.0MP AF
  • Front-facing camera: 2.0MP
  • Battery: Removeable 1,800mAh
  • Dimensions: 136 × 64.6 × 8.9 millimeters
  • Colors: Black

Below the Thunder lineup, you’ll find the Kazam Trooper family which is “designed to deliver the right level of useful technology.” Consisting of five models ranging in size from KAZAM Trooper X5.5 with a 5.5-inch FWVGA (480×854) display and 1.2GHz dual-core processor to the Kazam Trooper X3.5, its smallest offering with a 3.5-inch HVGA (320×480) display and a 1.0 dual-core processor.

All Kazam smartphones will come with dual-SIM support, removeable batteries and Kazam Rescue, a tool that will let the Kazam support team remotely access the device to help with setup issues and resolve any issues. Kazam will also offer its customers a free screen replacement should the screen crack in the first year.

Kazam will begin rolling out its new smartphones in Europe in the coming days and weeks. Availability and pricing will be announced on a country by country basis.

KAZAM announce first smartphones

Seven phones to be available across Europe

London, 5th November 2013 – KAZAM, the new mobile manufacturer, today announces the introduction of seven new smartphones. The KAZAM Trooper & KAZAM Thunder ranges will launch over the coming days and weeks on a regional basis to coincide with consumer availability.

Michael Coombes, CEO, KAZAM said, “Six months ago KAZAM was founded and to be announcing our first phones today is incredible. We are small and experienced, ensuring we are quick to adapt and react to the changing needs of our local markets. There is much more to come from our exciting brand.”

KAZAM established earlier this year with the ambition to challenge the industry status quo. The straight thinking brand is obsessive about quality, relevant technology, and disruptive pricing, but the brand proposition is bigger than that. From launch, every KAZAM smartphone will come with a full year’s screen replacement*, so a cracked screen is not the end of the world. Furthermore, the phones launch with KAZAM Rescue, meaning people can allow the KAZAM support team to remote access their device, to help with any setup issues or problems.

Less is more with the KAZAM Trooper range, designed to deliver the right level of useful technology, whilst theKAZAM Thunder range provides the ultimate in tech performance for the increasing demands of technology fanatics. Common to all KAZAM smartphones are Dual SIM, removable battery and upgradable memory.

Country specific announcements will be made to coincide with in-store availability
