Apple Store - Ginza, Tokyo, Japan

The dust has barely settled after the launch of the Apple iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C that the rumours about the next iPhone are winding up. In a report more focused on Apple’s upcoming 12.9-inch iPad tablet, Digitimes indicates that its supply chain sources expect that Apple will unveil a larger sized iPhone as early as May 2014. This larger iPhone is not named but it could well be the iPhone 6 if Apple continues to follow its current naming convention.

Details are slim on this new iPhone but it will reportedly use a 20nm processor manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). Recent iPhone 6 rumours have hinted at a 4.8-inch display although it is reportedly evaluating devices with displays as large as 6 inches.

Given Digitimes‘ hit-and-miss track record, we will keep this one will remain in the rumours category. If it does appear that an early 2014 launch is in the cards for the iPhone 6, we can expect to see more rumours surface quickly.

As for the 12.9-inch iPad, the report expects an October launch. Geared at the education market, it will reportedly sport the same 20nm processor.
