Late April launch for Samsung Galaxy S5?

Samsung Galaxy S5 conceptThe Samsung Galaxy S5 rumours are in full flight today! First, a report suggested that the next Samsung flagship will launch sometime in Q1, perhaps as early as January or February. Shortly after, Mobile-review’s Eldar Murtazin tweeted that the launch will not happen until late April, pushing it out of the Q1 time frame.

If there is a silver lining in this story, it is that Murtazin has confirmed that Samsung is also planning a higher-end line of devices currently known as Project F. While a Galaxy F smartphone is indeed in the works, it is also unlikely to launch in Q1 given that carriers have yet to apparently see it, let alone begin certifying it for their networks.

Murtazin also hints that the Galaxy Note 4 could launch earlier than its predecessors have.

There is no word from Murtazin on whether the SM-G900S and its 2.5GHz Qualcomm processor and WQHD (2560×1440) display is indeed the Galaxy S5.

It should be pointed out that while Murtazin has been accurate on a number of past rumours, he’s also gotten a few wrong. If Catcher is indeed already shipping the metal unibodies, it’s likely that production is if not underway about to do so. For now, the proverbial pinch of salt is the best bet.
