LG executive reveals LG G2 launch details

LG G2 teaserLG CFO David Jung appears to have revealed a few details about the upcoming LG G2’s U.S. launch. Speaking to Korea’s The Kyunghyang Shinmun, Jung indicated that the new flagship smartphone will first launch in South Korea in August. North American and European availability will follow in September with a number of additional markets to follow in October.

For the North American launch, a second executive added that Verizon Wireless was onboard but mentioned no others. It appears though AT&T and T-Mobile could also offer the LG G2 according to FCC filings. It’s also likely that we will see the LG G2 here in Canada.

LG has already confirmed the LG G2’s name and that it will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The teasers have also effectively confirmed that it will come with volume buttons on the back. Details still to be confirmed include Google Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, a 5.2-inch FHD display, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera with OIS, a 2,450mAh battery and wireless charging.

The LG G2 marketing machine is already in full swing with regular teasers popping up ahead of the official announcement on August 7th in New York City.
