LG working on 6.4-inch phablet to rival Sony Xperia Z Ultra?

LG Electronics

With its 6.4-inch display, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra falls into the category of phablets that could be mistaken for a tablet. It now appears that LG is working on such a tablet of its own. According to AndroidSaS, LG will match the 6.4-inch display size but is looking to pack more pixels into that display. Whereas the Sony Xperia Ultra Z’s display comes in at 342PPI, LG is reportedly looking to hit 418PPI for its tablet’s display.

Other reported specifications include a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8974 SoC, Android 4.4 KitKat, 3GB of RAM and a presumably rear-facing 8MP camera with LED flash.

The 6.4-inch LG phablet has yet to be named but these specifications would suggest it would be part of LG’s new G flagship family alongside the recently announced LG G2 smartphone.

There is also no word on when the 6.4-inch LG phablet could be be announced and launched. When it does launch, it could find itself in a crowded market that includes the Nokia Lumia 1520 (6-inch display) and the HTC One max (5.9-inch display) as well as already available phablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
