Log file reveals Google Nexus 5 specifications

Google Android 4.4 KitKatThe LG-D820, better known as the rumoured Google Nexus 5, is in the news again. A log file of Android 4.4 (identified as KeyLimePie and bearing build number KRS74H) running on a device codenamed Hammerhead (the Google Nexus 5?) was obtained over the weekend by Myce.com. They and Italy’s AndroidWorld have pored over its 133,000 lines to reveal new details about the Nexus 5 and also about Android 4.4.

On the Android side, there is conflicting information about potential changes to the user interface. One screenshot suggests that the notification bar will get grey icons across the board but another shows the familiar blue ones as well.

Rumoured Google Android 4.4 screenshots

The log file screenshot below identifies the device as the Hammerhead as well as the Nexus 5. Others identify the model number as LG-D820. It should be pointed out that some other lines also identify the device as the Nexus 4 for some reason.

Rumoured LG D-820 logfile

As for the specifications of the Google Nexus 5, here is what the log file revealed:

  • Processor: 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snadragon 800
  • Operating system: Google Android 4.4 KitKat
  • Cellular connectivity: LTE
  • Other connectivity: NFC
  • Display: 4.97-inch Full HD (1080×1920/442PPI)
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Internal storage: 16GB
  • Rear-facing camera: 8MP
  • Front-facing camera: 1.2MP
  • Battery: 2,300mAh
  • Other: Wireless charging

If the Google Nexus 5 is based on the LG G2, it appears to have lost the latter’s 13MP camera sensor in favour of an 8MP one. It remains to be seen if it will also lose the latter’s OIS.

Google is expected to unveil both Android 4.4 KitKat and the Google Nexus 5 at an event in mid-October. A previous rumour suggested that the event was set for October 14.
