More large-screen Nokia Lumia smartphones coming next month

NokiaFollowing the announcement of the Lumia 625 with its 4.7-inch display and the Lumia 1020 with its 41MP PureView camera sensor this summer, Reuters reports that Nokia plans to unveil new Lumia devices at an event in late September. According to unnamed sources, more than one new mobile device are on tap including a phablet and possibly a tablet. No further details were provided.

A list of recently leaked codenames suggests that Nokia has a number of devices under development. If so, it could well introduce a range of devices to refresh its portfolio for the crucial holiday shopping season.

The phablet could well be the recently rumoured Nokia Bandit, a device sporting a 6-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Windows Phone 8 GDR3.

As for the tablet, recent rumours suggest that it could be powered by Windows RT although Windows 8/8.1 also remains a possibility. Other specifications include a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and a 10.1-inch display.

Nokia has had more success with cheaper Lumia models and may well introduce new entry to mid-range devices as well.

The event is set to take place in New York City. No specific date was provided but rumours back in July hinted at an event set for September 26th or 27th, which would line up well with this report.
